Embassy for World Peace

History

Since 1995 the Embassy has served as a crossroads for national and international events; has conducted liaison with government leaders on behalf of freedom issues; and has maintained a prayer tower at the Nation's Capital.

The Embassy has assisted religious leaders who need a presence in Washington, D.C. with national mall events anad international gatherings. This is achieved by connecting them with government and Washington, D.C. community leadership.

Rev. Ruth Schofield (personal Bio listed below) is the founding president of the Embassy for World Peace, which is formerly known as the Embassy of the Prince of Peace.  Recognizing the great need for prayer at the nation’s capital, Rev. Schofield made her residence on Embassy Row (one of Iran’s former embassy buildings) available to spiritual and government leaders so they could unite together for prayer and strategy. In the course of seven years, there were over 4,000 visitors who called Iran’s embassy on Massachusetts Avenuea shining city on the hill.”

Among all the thrilling visitors, we will always remember an IranianChurch who prayed at their own embassy, and a group of former Sudanese slaves who were participating in a march for freedom at the U.S. Capitol.

While occupying a site that once represented terrorism, Rev. Schofield and her colleagues also became involved with the need to foster peace in the Middle East; with a goal to end persecution against those who are victimized for their race or religion.  The Embassy has supported international policies that promote human rights for all, working to bring an end to ethnic cleansing and religious oppression.  The Embassy looks forward to the day when the freedom loving Iranian people will be able to experience democracy.

Some of the Embassy’s projects have been Washington For Jesus ’96; Promise Keepers Solemn Assembly; Levantate’ Hispanic Crusade 2000; Jammin’ Against the Darkness Youth Crusades; International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, DC Call Youth Rally; the Annual National Juneteenth Observance for the Emancipation of Slavery; Unity Coalition Solidarity Gathering for Israel; the Annual National Day of Prayer; Priests For Life; Coalition For Revival; Center For Spiritual Renewal Solemn Assembly, Africa For Jesus, America For Jesus, Africa for Jesus, Luis Palau’s DC Festival, Awakening America Alliance, Africa Transformation Embassy, and USA Solemn Assembly.

The Embassy for World Peace continues to broaden its original mission to express concern for the well being of people who are threatened by theocratic tyranny, racial genocide, or religious persecution. The Embassy believes that we are our brother’s keeper, whatever the color of his skin or the country he lives in, and that every person deserves security, justice, freedom, independence and personal dignity.

As a center promoting peace in the world, the Embassy is burdened for the inhuman suffering caused to those in Third World countries such as: Sudan, Rwanda, Congo, Egypt, India, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran and China, North Korea, etc.  The most alarming situation has been in Africa’s longest-running civil war, where more than 2 million Sudanese have died from starvation, bombings, slavery and ethnic cleansing. The world community has not responded sufficiently to intervene in the genocide and humanitarian crisis in Darfur; similar to what had been experienced in Rwanda and the Congo

Embassy Proposes Center for Peace, Memorial and Museum

The Embassy for World Peace is currently proposing the development of a memorial and art museum in Washington, D.C. commemorating those who have suffered under totalitarian regimes and tyranny. The Embassy serves the primary purpose of seeking Peace through safeguarding Human Dignity and Freedom of Religion around the globe. An eternal flame will glow night and day in remembrance of the victims who have lost their lives due to global terrorism and those who have suffered human rights violations under totalitarian regimes.

The museum and art display will restore dignity to those who have been victimized at the hand of theocratic terrorist regimes.

More than a memorial, the Embassy conducts an ongoing global peace initiative to end religious persecution and racial atrocities in many regions through diplomatic liaison with key leaders to improve the civil, political, religious, and human rights environment in their countries.
